Description:

Body-positive, fat-positive, this entry level class great for all ages and ability levels! Relate positively to all the amazing skills and beautiful ways of moving your body is capable of, and find joy in movement 😊

Made for adults with no prior dance experience, students will learn a fun and easy to follow routine over the course of 3-4 weeks which features the foundational moves of Egyptian style belly dance (raks sharqi and raks beledi) led by an enthusiastic and funny mother-daughter teaching team. Start class at any time, as we learn a new section of the dance each week! You can expect to see a quick warm up, movement and technique explanation, a full breakdown of the steps of the routine, and then lots of practice of the dance or concept over the course of 45 minutes.

This class is interactive and gives you the opportunity to ask questions, make comments or jokes, and get teacher feedback and technique input, just like an in-person dance class. Or, you can leave your camera off and focus on enjoying a front row spot in class without the distraction of potentially comparing yourself to other students.

We encourage our dancers to turn off their brains and simply enjoy moving and being physical in the body you occupy right now while learning a beautiful dance with a rich cultural background. We offer adaptations to fit all ability and mobility levels, because there is always an array of beautiful ways a move can be executed. If you’re having fun, you’re doing it right!

We want to help you feel great and have fun moving and dancing in the body you have right NOW. Our classes are free from talk of diets, calories, or cosmetic benefits of movement. We focus on having fun, gaining new skills, and honoring our body as it shows up each day! We believe every BODY deserves access to joyful dance and movement.
