Burlesque Fitness for Any Body (B+)

Description:
Like Zumba or line-dancing, BFAB features a set of dance moves that the instructor calls out during the music. The goal is to keep moving for the full 45 minutes, rather than to memorize a single routine. We begin with a slow-paced warmup song that introduces most of the moves, and then we’ll Charleston and shimmy our way through a mixture of faster-paced cardio songs and slow/sultry songs that test our balance and alignment.
Don’t worry about messing up, not knowing the moves, or not having dance training: the whole point of Burlesque Fitness for Any Body is to feel sexy and powerful in whatever body you bring to the studio. All bodies will be welcomed and celebrated. Modifications will be offered for those with common challenges, and Melissa will be happy to work with you to help with your individual body’s needs.
Jazz shoes or bare feet are recommended. This is a fitness class, but it’s still burlesque, so feel free to wear athletic clothes or fishnets, scrunchies or cat eyeliner—or be like your instructor and go for a combination of all of the above. Just make sure to have a water bottle handy.

We focus on having fun, gaining new skills, and honoring our body as it shows up each day! We believe every BODY deserves access to joyful dance and movement.
