When do classes begin?
What does it mean to buy a punch card or unlimited month?
When you buy a punch card or unlimited month from Dance Life, you are purchasing a card that is good for any class offered at the studio. You do not need to commit to one class, or one series of classes. Only the belly dance series are progressive, and even then, you are welcome to begin at any time during the 8 week session. Register once online or in the studio, and you need never register again unless you want to take a workshop.
How can I use my punch card or unlimited month?
Your punch card or unlimited month is good for any class the studio offers. You may use it to drop into any class, any time! You need only register one time with the studio; you do not need to register for each class you would like to take. Only belly dance series is progressive, all other classes operate on a drop in basis. You can still begin Fundamentals any time in the 8 week course, just a heads up that not all moves may be broken down into fine detail!
What is your refund policy?
Punch Card or Unlimited Month Refunds: Classes are subject to change. Class cards (punch cards and unlimited month options) are non refundable.
Workshop or Event Refunds: If Dance Life is notified:
30 days prior to event- Full Refund
14 days prior to event- 50% Refund
Less than 14 days before event: No refund, but payment can be transferred towards future events
Groupon: Classes are subject to change. Groupon purchases are non refundable.
What should I wear?
Please wear comfortable clothing. Yoga clothes, sweats, leggings, or pajamas are all acceptable. Something that is tighter in the knee is preferable so your instructor can make sure you are practicing proper technique and not doing any damage to your joints. You are not required to show your belly for the belly dance classes! If you don't have appropriate clothes, or would like something special like a coin belt to help make your experience a full one, Dance Life offers an apparel store in house where you can buy pants, tops, jewelry, coin belts and much more!
I bought a Groupon. What do I do next?
First, scroll down to the bottom of the page for our instructions on registration. Please make sure to read all of the instructions, as there is valuable information throughout. After you have registered, pick which class or classes you would like to take. You do not have to commit to just one class or type of classes. Feel free to use your card for any class, any time! If you are not emailed a password after you complete registration, just be sure to tell the front desk receptionist that you need to sign the waiver, and your registration will be complete.
I bought a Groupon and it expires soon. What does this mean?
All you need to do is bring your Groupon in before the expiration date, and then the card has no further expiration. For example, if you have a ten class pass that expires in April, bring your Groupon in before the expiration date and we will issue you a studio card (kept at the studio) . Once you have a studio card, the card has no expiration and you are free to use up the punches at your leisure. If your Groupon is past its expiration date, you can still bring it in and redeem it for the amount you paid (ie: a $25 Groupon counts as $25 towards classes)
I registered but I never received a password. What do I do?
I've never danced before. What classes are appropriate for people with no experience?
If you have no prior dance experience, we recommend starting with the Fundamentals of Belly Dance or Fundamentals Choreography class. These classes are geared towards students with no pror dance experience at all. Salsa is also a great entry level class. The Belly Dance Fitness, JENergy Cardio Kickboxing, and Zumba classes are ran at an advanced beginning level, but students with no experience will quickly learn as the same moves are used in every class. Bollywood and Tai Chi are also suitable to those who are new to movement!
Belly dance is a family friendly art form, and suitable for children of all ages. Children ages 7 and up are welcome to take any of our classes, provided they have the attention span to make it through an hour long class geared towards adults. We love mother-daughter teams!
What classes should I take if I am interested in a fitness class?
We suggest: Zumba, JENergy Cardio Kickboxing, Belly Dance Fitness, or Bollywood!

Based in Providence, Rhode Island, Tempest pulls from her visual arts background (Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Rhode Island School of Design), literary tendencies, and global inspirations to create dance that crosses the boundaries of time and culture. Tempest began her journey into dance in 2000, and has traveled the country to study traditional, folkloric, and fusion forms of belly dance. Her compelling performances exemplify her distinctively theatrical and expressive style, and are rooted in oriental dance technique with a transcendent approach.
Tempest is known as the premiere instructor for both Gothic & Steampunk Belly Dance, and has been the most influential in defining these genres and putting them into instructional formats that are accessible to all styles and levels of dancers. But her knowledge, appeal, and accessibility reaches far beyond such labels as "Gothic", "Dark Fusion" and "Steampunk", because her material translates across style borders. Her exuberant teaching style focuses on the whole dancer - mind and body, enabling dancers to develop their own voice in the dance, and present it more powerfully through character emphasis, stage engagement, artistic quality, and professional application of technique.
